Philippa Mann Before and after

How old are you and please can you share your health and fitness journey to date?

I am 24 years old and live in England. My fitness journey started on January 5th 2015 (to be exact). I had a gym membership which i went to now and again before this but I had no idea what I was doing. I had bought the Bikini Body Guide by Kayla Itsines after seeing all the amazing transformations and thought "why can't I look like that?" Kayla Itsines brought a huge community of girls together and we all started the fitness guide on January 5th and supported each other throughout. Having such and amazing community of people to talk to and inspire me really motivated me to stay on track and change my body for good!

What types of foods did you used to eat as a kid and young adult? What's changed since then?

I have never really been unhealthy as a young adult, obviously I would have takeaways and pizzas etc but it was all in moderation when I look back. I never ate sweets or chocolate because I was more of a burger type of girl... I still am!! I think the big change was last year I became OBSESSED with white chocolate and I think this along with not exercising really took a toll on my body. Now I don't really eat chocolate and still don't eat sweets. I have gained so much knowledge in the last 9 months about proper nutrition and the macro nutrients I need each day to fuel my body. Through the week I normally eat lean protein with low gi carbs and lots of veg. I also drink protein shakes to help my muscles grow and recover. Oh and I always make sure I drink at least 3 litres of water per day. On the weekends I still try eat as healthy as possible but I'm not dieting, eating healthy is a lifestyle change and we need treats to keep ourselves sane so I try not put too much pressure on myself.

Do you play any sports or what sports do you like watching?

I don't play any sports although I would love to try Thai Boxing it looks like a great full body workout!

What are your interests, passion and what makes you smile?

My passion is food and fitness. If I'm not talking about something new I have learnt about nutrition or fitness I'll definitely be researching it!

What was the catalyst that sparked your lifestyle change?

It was the end of last year and I was really unhappy with the way I looked. I know I wasn't fat but I had fat and I was uncomfortable. I would wear baggy shirts so that you couldn't see my belly hang over my jeans. I would constantly look on Instagram at all the amazing fitness accounts and become more ashamed of how I looked. Once I realised everyone was started the Bikini Body Guide together I decided this was the time to change and stop moaning about it! I bought a diary and made sure I marked out every workout I would do so I had no excuses. It was really difficult at first but once you see the changes in your body and become stronger physically and mentally, why would you ever stop!

What are some of your dreams/goals you hope to achieve over the next 12 months?

In the next 12 months I would like to gain more muscle and just become stronger. I have also crazily promised my boyfriend I would run a half marathon! I have recently started a course in Nutrition and would love to gain my qualification and move on to further education in fitness and nutrition and share my new found knowledge with the world!

What tips would you like to share with my readers about your transformation?

Try not listen to negative influences around you. Some people don't understand the reason why you want to change but you have to stay strong and be your own motivation. Also try not be too focused on "fat loss"; until recently this is all I was focused on and I feel that it was making me be over critical of my body and I was putting too much pressure on myself. Now I am training myself to have a more positive mindset on gaining muscle and becoming stronger and fat loss will just naturally be a part of that.

Phillipa can be found on Instagram and twitter.  This girl is definitely one to follow and watch her progress.  Phillipa your positiveness and willingness to keep learning will inspire many!

Don't forget to share you journey with me so I can feature you and help motivate others!
