Transformation Tuesday with Jenny

Today's transformation comes all the way from Canada. Please welcome Jenny! TT-Jenny

How old are you and please can you share your health and fitness journey to date? In August 2013 I saw this photo of me taken at my daughters birthday party and I decided it was time to do something about my health.

My first step was joining Weight Watchers, and I am still a member today. Around that time I had my friend Jennifer over, who also shares the same struggle with weight. She told me she had started doing a 30min DVD workout. I thought, 30min? I could do that...I'm a shift worker and that would be something I could make time for - and more convenient than going to a 3 months later she came over and asked me if I had checked out the video...I said 'YES, I bought it!'....well?? She asked...'did you try it??'....I said 'NO, it still in the cellophane!!'...I thought it was funny..but she didn't!

She was mad and yelled at me to get my shoes on and put the DVD on right away! So she did the video with me, with our kids at our feet! I was so sore for 5 days after that. 5 DAYS I had to fall back on the toilet when I had to go. Pathetic! When I felt better she came back and did it again and then again 3 days later after that. I thought about how much pain I had invested into these workouts over those 2 weeks and thought 'I can't quit now!' It was eye opening to realize how out of shape I really was and that I needed to keep going. Besides, Jennifer would be checking in now and then and I was too afraid to tell her that I quit! I kept up with it until January and then I was bored of the home DVD workouts and down about it all, so I decided just to focus on my eating habits and keep going with weight watchers.

In March Jennifer introduced me to the Stronger Forever strength training class for women and I love it! I feel so much stronger and straighter than ever. I'm a nurse and these days doing the heavy work is easier than ever. So far I am down 65lbs. I'm a bit of a foodie, so I've had to get creative. What types of foods did you used to eat as a kid and young adult? What's changed since then? I used to eat a lot more carbs….bagels, crackers, sweets - so many sweets. I still have carbs but greatly reduced from before and I have found some great 'sweets' that trick my cravings! (Recipes on my FB page)

Do you play any sports or what sports do you like watching? As a true Canadian I like watching hockey :)

What are your interests, passion and what makes you smile? I love to try new recipes these days that are slightly out of my comfort zone - it's become a new hobby and passion. I have found so many new favourites this way and have integrated many healthy new foods that I would never normally eat into my diet!

What was the catalyst that sparked your lifestyle change? I remember sitting at the nursing station on a night shift charting and I couldn't catch my breath - from JUST SITTING. That scared me enough along with seeing photos of myself

What are some of your dreams/goals you hope to achieve over the next 12 months? I would love to lose another 35lbs for a total of 100lbs lost…but I also want to be fit too!

What tips would you like to share with my readers about your transformation? Keep it interesting! If you start getting bored or in a rut, try a new workout style or find a new recipe or 2 to try! That refuels motivation and broadens your options!
