Transformation Tuesday with Christine

Transformation Tuesday, Christine shares her challenges of beating an eating disorder to be a better her! Transformation Tuesday with Christine

How old are you and please can you share your health and fitness journey to date? I'm going to be 30 this year and I'm in the BEST shape of my life. I have always struggled with self esteem and body image for as long as I could remember. In my early 20s I struggled with an eating disorder and ended up in the hospital. My husband (my boyfriend at the time) helped me get better, but I still struggled with eating healthy and enough. We got married and ended up miscarrying our first pregnancy. I believe I wasn't health enough. When we got pregnant the second time I was healthier and taking better care of myself. I always struggled with food. Pregnancy was hard for me. I gained over 85 pounds and it took a toll on my body. When I gave birth I was 216 pounds at 5'2. For the first 8 months of our sons life he was colic. I became depressed, still overweight and I was not happy. Shortly before his first birthday, I knew something had to give. This wasn't healthy for me and it want healthy for my son and husband. I began to clean up my diet and eating clean. I lost 30 pounds just by doing so. Then I began to do some at home workouts before I gained enough confidence to get into the gym. And once I did, I haven't stopped. I'm so grateful I took this step. My family deserved it, I deserved it.

What types of foods did you used to eat as a kid and young adult? What's changed since then? Growing up I ate relatively "healthy". I just ate way too much and I ate my feelings. My mom kept healthy food in the house, she tried her best. ;) I've learned to have a healthy relationship To know when I'm full and to eat to nourish my body.

Do you play any sports or what sports do you like watching? I don't play any sports at the moment, but I do enjoy watching soccer!

What are your interests, passion and what makes you smile? I have fallen in love with being a mom. Besides losing all this weight, being a mom is the one thing I'm most proud of. I enjoy scrap booking, making jewelry, anything crafty. And now I am absolutely passionate about fitness.

What was the catalyst that sparked your lifestyle change? Post partum depression and knowing that I deserved to get better.

What are some of your dreams/goals you hope to achieve over the next 12 months? My biggest goal over the next 12 months is to start a fitness meet up group in my area for other moms looking to get in shape and start living healthy. I would love to take all that I have learned over the last year and use it as a tool to help others.

What tips would you like to share with my readers about your transformation? Never lose sight of why you started your journey. Do whatever needs to be done to stay motivated. It isn't easy, but I promise it is worth it. And if you dig down deep you will find that willpower. YOU CAN SUCCEED. AND YOU WILL. We are so much stronger than we think. I'm living proof!
