Monday motivation and movement tips
What a weekend! Bring on Monday I say, cos that means there’s another weekend coming soon ;-) ha, ha. You know life is great when the weekend just ended and you want to kick-start a brand new week – heck, yeah! This week I have new goals, and a clear plan of attack to get to work, stick to it and achieve it. That’s what life is all about. Right?
I’ve been very fortunate with my business to have the freedom to work when and where I want… and how I want. Family always comes first, so when I was asked to attend an event over the weekend, I politely declined the invitation because it clashed with something really important in our family - the final game for Oscar at footy PLUS Noah was playing a game as well.
I guess some things don’t change… as a family, we have always made a pact that if it’s ever our birthdays, our wedding anniversary or events we have RSVP-ed to – we always stay together. It’s been over 10 years and we haven’t broken that bond.
We had such a ball this week and I got the entire family planking with my move action over at YOU-app with Jamie Oliver. By the way – are you loving it over there, or what? Come join us - I would love to see your planks too!
My “move” philosophy is all about doing it daily. So, when the boys were playing footy, the girls and I were doing some runners’ stretches - heel kicks, toe touch taps, lunges and just running around together and playing.
Top 5 reasons to stretch
1. It increases blood circulation
2. Flexbility
3. Increase range of motion
4. Reduces stress
5. Alleviates lower back pain (and that's exactly what I need in my life right now)
Everything comes to a halt when it’s time to get the house sorted and, with no cleaner at my fingertips, I gotta be creative and make it fun! I know it sounds weird but the only way I can get ANY housework done is by playing music L O U D, dancing around with the kids (or just Zali throughout the week, as we put away the clothes in everyone’s room). Call me crazy, but I love to cook and clean, although I reckon with my twist it seems more like fun when you are dancing, plus you are working up a sweat at the same time.
A bit of organisation makes it easier to stay healthy and so I make sure I allocate time to prepare some nutritious snacks to have ready. That way it’s easier to avoid food choices that aren’t so good. Here’s something I typically prepare the night before when I know we have a tight morning schedule the next day.
Raspberry banana smoothies
Ingredients
Frozen raspberries
2 bananas
1tsp honey
Milk/yogurt (depends on how thick or thin you like your smoothie)
Method
Blend, pour and enjoy!
Raspberry banana smoothies are simple because I have them frozen in the freezer and fruit in the bowl, add some milk, coconut water or yogurt with a drizzle of honey and there you have a meal on the go especially yesterday for the boys on the way to the footy!
How about you? What have you got planned for the week?
Make it amazing!
