How old are you and please can you share your health and fitness journey to date? I am 34. I've been on a fitness journey over the past 19 months after the birth of my second child. I had a difficult pregnancy and required bed rest so I really wanted to get fit and healthy after baby. I work out from home doing weight training and HIIT cardio.

I often had a lot of traditional home cooking that contained high salt and sugar and a lot of fried foods. Or take out and drive through. What has helped me a lot with my weight loss today is cooking majority of my foods from home. Choosing lean meats, high fibre veggies and complex carbs. I still enjoy treats when I want them so I don't feel deprived. And this has helped me to keep from binging.

I'm afraid I'm not a big sports fan. I do enjoy marathon running!

I've taken a huge interest in health and fitness. In particular feeding the body proper nutrition. I've learnt it's not about eating less but more about eating right. So many times in the past I wouldn't eat enough or be afraid of eating for fear it would make me overweight. Being so restrictive I lost weight but when I couldn't maintain that diet I would gain weight again. I told myself I would stop that nonsense. And learn to have a healthy relationship with food. My children watch me and I didn't want them having the same trouble.

What was the catalyst that sparked your lifestyle change? The main catalyst was my desire to regain my muscle after being on bed rest during pregnancy. Also I made my goal to be healthy and fit as opposed to skinny. I looked to IG for motivation + inspiration. And seeing other moms and regular people get their bodies back after babies really helped me to feel I could do it too.

I hope to decrease my body fat some more and increase my muscle.

My biggest tip has been to take it day by day. One meal at a time. One workout at a time. One day at a time. And that you don't have to perfect. We are human and all have off days. Just remembering tomorrow is a new day takes the pressure off and you can start over. It's a process and you have to enjoy your life and body through the journey.
