Edible Gifts for the Holidays

Christmas is quickly approaching and we’re all definitely feeling the holiday spirit! As well as all the silly family fun, one of the best parts about this time of the year has to be the amazing festive food that gets shared around...everything in moderation, right? Some recipes can also be turned into fantastic edible gifts - I love packing up some treats in a decorative way to gift to friends and family. They not only promise a culinary delight (because who doesn’t love receiving food?), but you’re also putting in the time, effort and love to create something from scratch. And trust me when we say that your favourite holiday foods don’t have to be all that unhealthy. There are so many easy yet fantastic substitutions that you can make here and there to make recipes taste just as good, if not better!

An easy and quick idea is to mix together the dry ingredients for your favourite baked good, and throw it in a clear jar along with instructions on how to complete the recipe tied onto it. You could even do the same with a Chai or Hot Chocolate mix - just mix your main ingredient along with some spices and flavours, and send away.

For something a little more… edible, these recipes below are great for you and I can guarantee your friends will not only love them, but appreciate you for helping them look after their bodies ;). Turn it into a family activity by having the kids use their creativity to decorate some mason jars, bags or tins to gift them in.

An amazingly healthy version of an old favourite - this is made with coconut and macadamia nuts, and even has some superfoods thrown in there. Stack up these bars with some tissue paper and wrap a bow around it for an elegant finish.

This is such a versatile recipe that it’s great to adapt for your friends who are particular. Get all festive and throw in some candied fruit and nuts for a delicious christmas cake treat. Try gifting these in simple jewelery boxes lined with wax or tissue paper.

Guilt-free Caramel Popcorn

Keep it simple with this delicious guilt-free popcorn. Use your favourite nut butter, and you could even throw in some green and red sprinkles for a pop of holiday colours. Gift them in a bucket for an unusual twist, or make bag them into 'cones' with a ribbon on top.

And if you're feeling particularly creative (and have some time on your hands!), take a look at these awesome 'gift-within-a-gift' cookies from Corey at FamilyFreshMeals.com. How adorable are these!!
