  1. What fitness activity do you schedule into your daily routine to keep healthy?

I am a triathlete so my week is a great mix having to work on all 3 disciplines of swim bike and run. Strength training, transition practice and recovery techniques such as Self Myofacial Release (SMF), stretching, massage and nutrition is also important to help make the most out of each session and stay healthy and injury fee!

My week usually comprises of 3 swims of 3-5 kms (1-2 hours), 2 Run-bike or “brick” sessions (1.5-2 hours), 1 long run of 18-20 kms( 1-1.5 hours), 1 long group ride of 80-130 kms (2.5-4.5 hours) and 2 strength and conditioning sessions (1.15-1.30 hrs).

This is why I love triathlon, as there are so many components to work and improve in, I love setting goals and working hard to achieve them and as not one session is the same you cannot get bored, I just get excited!

  1. Describe your dream meal - what could we expect to find on your plate?

My regular lunch and dinner plates always represent my ‘healthy plate rule’ which is 1/4 of the plate a low GI carbohydrate (such as sweet potato, quinoa or freekah), 1/4 of the plate lean meat/protein (e.g. chicken, fish, eye fillet etc.) and 1/2 the plate non starchy vegetables or salad (always at least 5 different types). I enjoy and prefer to eat like this as it ensures I meet my recommended food groups, thus 100% of my nutrition requirements, provides great energy for my training sessions, supports a speedy recovery and strong immune system. But, after a big weekend of training I love and crave a good bowl of pasta. My husband, who has an Italian background, actually cooks the best pasta! Homemade tomato based sauce and gnocchi. I think the key ingredients are fresh tomatoes, bacon, red wine, fresh herbs, onion garlic and chili. A hot scons would hit the spot for dessert too, the ones from Bakers Delight!

  1. Who’s your go to style icon - who have you always admired for their style, and why?

I live in comfy fitness clothes! As a dietitian, personal trainer and triathlete I am always dressed in 2xu, Lulu lemon, Asics or my bike or swim gear!

I am not the best when it comes to fashion or getting dressed up. I often feel uncomfortable unless its summer where I'll rock some shorts and singlet or a loose fitted dress.

When new trends come in it takes me a while to adjust! So I can’t say whom I admire for their style although one of my best friends Kaila is a fashion designer and she seems to pull anything off and always on a tight budget so I’ll say her! I’m unfortunately a sucker for the labels and price tags!

  1. What’s a childhood habit or mannerism that has followed you into adulthood?

Being an early riser. I’m always up before sunrise and am most productive at that time. I get up at 4:15 everyday, only Sunday may I sleep in until 5/5:30am. This does mean I go to bed early. My body does “switch off” at about 8pm so after that I am useless the only place for me is bed! I always wake up hungry and look forward to eating Amy’s Grains!

  1. Name three things you can’t leave the house without and why?

I will NEVER leave the house without having my breakfast. This of course is Amy’s Grains!

Its the perfect start to the day fuelling my body with low GI carbohydrates and B group vitamins for long lasting energy, protein for repairing muscle tissue and creating important hormones and enzymes, fibre for a healthy gut, keeping me satisfied and “regular”, calcium for bone health and stacks of other essential vitamins and minerals for the vital bodily functions and supporting a bullet proof immune system!

My 2xu transition bag follows me everywhere. This has my training gear, lap top, note pad and of course food!

But one thing I feel naked leaving at home is my runners! Asics kayanos are my shoe!
