10 ways to increase your 10,000 steps per day

I tell you what, I have been sitting on my a double s lately with my new e-book, writing, researching and just generally getting distracted on social media when I really should be finishing my e-book and stepping outside to walk. So I took these bad boys out this morning and left them on the beach while I went for my walk. STEPTEMBER challenge Dani Stevens

If you are finding it hard to find ways to step outside or increase your 10,000 steps per day, I have put the below together to give you some inspiration. Plus register here for our giveaways this month.

10 ways to increase your 10,000 steps per day

1. Get up early - I try and get up before everyone else does and aim to meet the sunrise on the beach, it's such an amazing feeling.

2. Every hour on the hour - get up and go for a walk, even if it's for 10 minutes, you won't believe how many steps this will contribute to your day!

3. Get yourself a tracker - Download an app, get the latest wearable gadget or pedometer as these gadgets don't lie. They truly tell us when we move and stay idle for too long. So let's get moving!

4. Find a buddy or walk your dog - this is the best company going around, invite your friends or enjoy a 6 leg company walk. If you don't have a dog, go to your local RSPCA!

5. Try this trifecta - we talk about micro actions over at YOU-app and this is exactly it. Break up your steps in the morning, go for a power walk at lunch time and then another 20 minutes after work or dinner.

6. Power hour - try and allocate this time to do as many steps as you can. You can even try and beat your score each time.

7. Avoid rockstar car parks - I have been parking as far as possible from venues, so this adds up too!

8. Ditch the lifts - take the stairs at every opportunity and watch your steps increase.

9. Go for a run - hubby saw he was lagging his steps when he got home compared to mine, so he did his first ever 5km run.

10. Get some sunshine - get outside any opportunity you get. If not I use the stairs to make up my time.

Eating well and moving your body go hand in hand so ensure you are drinking plenty of water, eating amazing breakfasts to kick your day. This is what I had this morning;

Banana Date Chia Pudding

Banana chia pudding Dani Stevens

Ingredients

1/3 cup chia seeds

1 cup water or milk

1tsp vanilla essence

2 dates

Drizzle of maple syrup (not necessary as the dates made the pudding super sweet!)

Method

Mix all ingredients in a glass jar and leave overnight to set. Add your favourite fruit and yoghurt in the morning, I sliced some banana's and sprinkled cacao nibs for some crunch!

Have an amazing day and don't forget to reserve your copy of my upcoming 30 Days Fitness & Food e-book. I'm so excited what's to come.
