10 things you should know about Food Revolution Day
1. The Food Revolution is a national movement started by Jamie Oliver that aims to change the way people eat and to keep cooking skills alive in homes and communities. 2. Food Revolution Day is a global campaign to put compulsory practical food education on the school curriculum. 3. Food Revolution Day is an annual global day of action that celebrates good, fresh, real food. 4. It is about educating children about food in a fun and engaging way, we can equip them with the basic skills they need to lead healthier, happier lives, for themselves and their future families. 5. It’s a day to shout about the benefits of cooking from scratch and, ultimately, to show people that not only is fresh food tastier, changing their food choices can also make them healthier and happier. 6. This year Food Revolution Day is, above all, about getting children excited about food. It’s our duty to ensure that the next generation grow up armed with the knowledge and skills they need to make good lifestyle choices. 7. Cooking & Company extends the Food Revolution from schools to the workplace. The program’s goal is to teach 350,000 adults basic cooking skills. 8. This year, among the many other food-filled activities lined up, the healthy eating activist is looking to break the Guinness World Record attempt for the ‘Most participants in a cookery lesson in 24 hours. 9. Food Revolution Day is about tackling these issues. It’s about coming together to shout about the changes that need to happen to make the world a better place. 10. Food Revolution Day is proof of how we can work together in schools and communities all over the world, coming together as one global voice to make a lasting impact that’ll reach far beyond the day itself.
It was great being at the launch this year with Jamie as he officially launched the petition at the Sydney Opera House in March 2015.
