Eating Plant Based Can Change Your Life

What a wonderful weekend!!! From entertaining our good friends on Friday to Mietta's first ever dance concert on Saturday and then catching up with more lovely neighbours on Sunday. Smiles all around!

She's such a little cutie. My shy girl versus butterfly Queen Zali (mini me) so we all balance each other out beautifully.

Rainbow Food

Nothing beats these delicious and super quick fruit kebabs. Wash and clean your seasonal fruit, chop chunky pieces and thread through skewers. They are a TOTAL hit!

Which brings me to my beautiful guest Georgia Bamber. I stumbled across her Plant Fuel Living website and wanted to invite her to share her sustainable and balanced lifestyle.

Georgia is a plant based nutrition and wellness advocate, ultra marathon runner, ironman and mother.

Over to you Georgia.

"I’m on a mission! And that mission is to tell as many people as I can about the amazing benefits of eating a plant based diet.

And why would I want to do that? Well it is because I can’t help myself. Eating a plant based diet has transformed my life in so many profound and unexpected positive ways that I feel it is almost criminal not to share with people the things that I have learned on my journey.

At the age of 43 I feel fitter, healthier and happier than I ever have, and my life is driven with an incredible sense of peace and purpose. I wake up every day full of verve and energy and an excitement to embrace life. May seem crazy that I credit all this to the way I eat, but I really do.

So without further ado, here are the top reasons I think you (and everyone!) should give plant based eating a go.

Health and Vitality The cells in our body are literally made up from chemicals derived from the foods we eat. In other words you are what you eat. So for ultimate vibrancy and health you need to make sure you are eating some GOOD stuff.

As you only get one body in a lifetime I think it is a pretty good idea to make sure you take good care of it. And you can’t do better than to feed your body whole plant foods. Full of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, anti-inflammatories and fibre plant foods provide everything that your body needs and will leave you feeling vibrant and brimming with energy.

Not only will you feel awesome on a day-to-day basis, but through eating a plant based diet you give yourself the very best chance of great health your whole life.

A whole food plant based diet has been scientifically proven to prevent and even reverse chronic lifestyle diseases like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer. Eating plant based will also help you to lower cholesterol, avoid dementia and Alzheimer’s, keep bones strong, preserve eye sight, avoid surgery and much more.

Did you know that as much as 80% of the lifestyle diseases that afflict our society could be completely avoided if people switched to plant based diets? That is huge.

Oh yes, and a plant based diet can help you to live longer to. More years to your life and more life to your years!

Weight Loss Eating plant based is great for anyone who wants to lose and/or maintain a healthy weight. People who follow plant based diets tend to have lower BMI’s than meateaters, pescatarians and even vegetarians.

Plant based foods are incredibly nutrient dense and for the most part, because they are full of fibre and water, they are NOT calorie dense, unlike animal based and processed foods. You get a lot of food for fewer calories so it fills you up.

The great news is that on a whole food plant based diet there is not calorie counting and no restriction, but people still see the weight fall off. You get to be slimmer and satisfied!

Physical Performance Fancy yourself an athlete and want to maximize your physical performance? Plant based eating could be just the secret weapon that you are looking for. Chock full of antioxidants, plant based foods are fantastic in reducing fatigue and aiding in quicker recovery. Many of today’s top athletes have found out this secret. If it works for the likes of Serena Williams, ultramarathoner Scott Jurek and world strongman Patrick Baboumian I think it could work for you too.

Environment We can’t avoid having an impact on the environment but we can try to ensure we tread as lightly as possible. Did you know that animal based agriculture creates more green house gas emissions than all forms of transportation combined? That it takes up to a third of the world’s fresh water consumption. Or that livestock covers 45% of the earth’s total landmass?…. Those are crazy kinds of figures.

Eating a plant based diet is the hands down the biggest individual contribution each of us can make towards mitigating climate change, preserving land and water resources and maintaining a healthy environment.

Animals Of course eating plant based is the kindest choice that you can make for all the animals out there and ends a lot of unnecessary cruelty and suffering.

Positivity and Compassion What surprises many people is how eating plant based ends up not only transforming their health but their whole outlook on life. Making the conscious choice to eat in the way that is the most compassionate to those around us, of course to animals and to our environment helps people to look beyond their own selves and see the world for what it truly is. Eating a plant based diet can make us better people.

As you can see, there are so many reasons to give plant based eating a go. How cool is it that you can choose at diet that is not only the best for your personal health, but is also the best for our planet and all the other sentient beings we share it with.

If you think this is something that you would like to learn more about I have a new course coming up soon called Eating Clean and Green."

BIG LOVE to you Georgia for taking time to share the above. I learnt so much.

So what are you waiting for? Get your plants on!!!!
